We wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! We have a wonderful year preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and look forward to the new year!

Our latest ministry newsletter is on our blog: Open Air Preaching Across The United States and see also the recent open air preaching documentaries that we uploaded to my OpenAirOutreach.

I really enjoy the Christmas season because of the Christmas songs about Jesus and the gospel.

I remember walking through the mall as a new Christian and hearing them play a Christmas song about Jesus throughout the entire mall. I thought, “Wow that’s amazing. I can’t stand up and preach in this mall because they will kick me out. But because it is Christmas time, the gospel message is being preached throughout their whole PA system!”

The first time that I ever heard the gospel in my life was when I was a very little boy and I was in the car with my mother and she put on some Christmas songs on the radio. I vividly remember hearing about God becoming a baby in a manger and how that thought made a deep impression upon my mind. I recall looking up at the stars as I meditated on the Christmas or gospel story.

The gospel was not something that was really talked about in my house growing up, but through Christmas songs I heard and believed the gospel as a boy. Christmas time was really the only time that I was really exposed to the gospel. I wonder how many countless others have been exposed to the gospel this way? During Christmas time through Christmas music, many souls hear the gospel which otherwise may not have.

Christmas is also a very good time to go caroling throughout your neighborhood, singing songs about Jesus Christ! It may be one of the only times that your neighborhood would welcome an open air message about Jesus Christ! My family and I went caroling last night with some other families and friends and it was great! We attached a gospel tract to a flower and after we sang for a house we gave the tract and flower to one of the kids to give to the house owner. The neighborhood loved it!

God bless!

O holy night! The stars are brightly shining,

It is the night of our dear Saviour’s birth.

Long lay the world in sin and error pining,

‘Til He appear’d and the soul felt its worth.

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,

For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.

Fall on your knees! O hear the angel voices!

O night divine, O night when Christ was born;

O night divine, O night, O night Divine.

Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming,

With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.

So led by light of a star sweetly gleaming,

Here come the wise men from Orient land.

The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger;

In all our trials born to be our friend.

He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,

Behold your King! Before Him lowly bend!

Behold your King, Before Him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another;

His law is love and His gospel is peace.

Chains shall He break for the slave is our brother;

And in His name all oppression shall cease.

Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,

Let all within us praise His holy name.

Christ is the Lord! O praise His Name forever,

His power and glory evermore proclaim.

His power and glory evermore proclaim.

One Response to Merry Christmas from the Morrell Family

  1. Some Christians are completely against Christmas because of pagan origins. But if we are going to do away with Christmas because of its pagan origins, how about doing away with the cash in your wallet? You know, there are a lot of pagan symbols on a dollar bill. And if you cannot use anything pagan for God, send me your cash. I’ll take it off your hands. Because like Christmas, I can sanctify money and use it for the Lord.

    Or what about the paganism behind the calendar as in the name of the months, days, etc. Can we use those days for the Lord? Should we cancel church on Sunday because it is the Day the pagans worshipped the Sun? We certainly couldn’t have church on Saturday either because that is the day the pagans worshipped Saturn. And Wednesday night Bible study it out of the question as that was the day the Pagans worshipped Woden. Thursday wouldn’t work for Bible study either because that was the day the Pagans worshipped Thor. And Monday was the day the pagans worshipped the Moon. Tuesday was for the god Tyr. And Friday was for the goddess Frigga.
