Why doesn’t God Stop Evil if He is all Powerful and All Good? Christian Apologetics with Jesse Morrell

I have a good friend in Missouri named Paul who brings me out to visit and preach every once and a while.

A few years ago during the “Black Lives Matter” protests, Paul was with me on Mizzou when I was punched in the mouth while preaching – a story that made national news with Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and also Alex Jones. That is still my second most popular YouTube video, with 250,000 views.

Brother Paul has joined me on other campuses and streets as well, which you can watch on Youtube. It’s always a pleasure to team up with him.

University of Missouri Kansas City Day One

UMKC4

I had never preached on the University of Missouri in Kansas City before so I was excited to preach there for the first time. We spent two days preaching on this campus.

This trip was about a year ago when Hillary Clinton was still heavily covered in the news. Knowing that many of the students were liberal Hillary voters, I mentioned her name to stir up some attention.

If I were to preach on this campus this week, I’d bring up Jeffrey Epstein since he is the one being covered in the news right now. It would be easy to use Epstein as an example of how billions of dollars doesn’t change the fact of reality that sin naturally tends to misery and death.

It didn’t take long before I gathered a crowd of students around me.

One girl was heckling and cussing and so I said to her, “Watch your language! There might be ladies around.” That’s a line I learned from Ray Comfort a long time ago.

She said, “I am a lady! Want me to pull down my pants and show you?” (Not very lady like).

I said, “How am I supposed to know how you identify?”

The crowd was baffled and dumbfounded. And the girl thought it was hilarious. As you can see from the picture, she jumped for joy at my comment.

I wanted to hammer home the simplicity of our message. Heaven is for the righteous. Hell is for the wicked. So in order to escape hell and have a home in heaven, you have to repent of your sins and be born again by faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches works-based damnation and faith-based transformation!

UMKC2

Brother Paul has preached at this location before so he knew exactly where to go.

It was nice to have someone to tag team preach with.

He handled the crowd very nicely.

Salvation is a change of future. We were on our way to hell for our sins, then we repented and turned to the Lord, now we are on our way to Heaven. We were under God’s wrath. Now we are under God’s mercy. We were sinners. Now we are saints. Salvation is all about change.

I’ve had many people ask me, “Suppose you are right and we are going to hell for our sins. What are we supposed to do?” I encouraged the crowd, “God has given you the power to change your future by repenting of your sins.”

Another student asked, “Why doesn’t God Stop Evil if He is all Powerful and All Good?”

I said, God has loving reasons for allowing evil to continue. He could stop it all right now by force and send everyone to hell but He is giving mankind a chance to repent. God has loving reasons for allowing free will to take its course. Without free will you can’t have love. But with free will you have the possibility of sin and it’s hurtful consequences. Life is a test to see what type of person you will choose to be.

On Judgment Day God will separate the wicked from the righteous, so that the wicked will no longer be able to sin against the righteous.

As I was preaching a student yelled, “What’s wrong with homosexuality?”

I said, “Homosexuality causes brain damage!”

He said, “Prove it!”

I said, “Watch, in a few years if America continues down this pathway of perversion, you’ll have men who think they are woman!”

The students said, “We already have that!”

I said, “See! I told you it would happen!”

That was classic.

University of Missouri Kansas City Again

UMKC21

We returned to the frontline battle at the University of Missouri in Kansas City.

Fornicators: “Marriage is just a piece of paper!”

Preacher: “Gay marriage is just a piece of paper!”

Fornicators: “What? Hey! Why is gay marriage just a piece of paper!”

Preacher: “God instituted marriage – male and female. Marriage has meaning and is holy. But you guys say marriage is just a piece of paper to justify fornication but then get upset when I say gay marriage is just paper! You’re inconsistent.”

UMKC22

.
A woman opposed my preaching on campus. She told the crowd “We can’t obey God. That’s why we need grace. That’s why it’s called Amazing Grace. Through grace we can obey God.”
.
But then she insisted, “You can’t be perfect. Sanctification is a process. We all sin.”
.
I told her “Your grace isn’t amazing enough! If it can’t keep you from sin! If it can’t make you perfect! Your grace isn’t amazing at all!”
.
Such double talk – we can’t obey God so we need grace. By grace we can obey God. But by grace we can’t stop Sinning. This makes no sense – the result of a piece meal theology derived from mainstream cliches.
.
I said, “Grace is not a license to sin.” She said “No it isn’t.” I said, “Then stop Sinning!” She didn’t know what to say.
.
She said we need the Holy Spirit to be able to obey God. I said men in the Old Testament obeyed God and were perfect before Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was given. The Bible says the Holy Spirit is given to those who obey God already (Acts 5:32).
.
She thinks that we cannot obey God and that is why we need salvation. But the Bible says that salvation is given to all those who obey Him (Hebrews 5:9).
.
I battled with her over more issues. Modern Christianity has messed her up. She thought the sinful life described in Romans 7 was the Christian life. She said it’s the Holy Spirits job alone to convict sinners of their sins. She said Jesus preached conviction, not condemnation. She said I was a Pharisee but admitted she was a religious sinner. She was wrong on all these points.
.
She told me to “speak the truth in love” but when a homosexual asked her where does the Bible condemn homosexuality, she didn’t want to speak the truth in love! She refused to answer that question because she wanted the praise of the crowd.
.
Pray for her. I think she is convicted of her sins but isn’t yet converted. She hasn’t fully surrendered her life to God, after all, she’s been taught that you can’t. She thinks she is covered by grace if she continues in sin, which is a false gospel. I pray she repents and has overcoming faith with victory over temptation.
..

OneSin

I was telling the crowd, “It takes ONE sin to go to hell. How many sins have you done?” “You deserve hell for every sin you’ve ever committed. If you’ve committed a million sins, you deserve a million hells. Don’t you see why you need Jesus?”

Pray for all the seeds that we planted into their hearts and minds. For many of them, this was the first time they heard these basic biblical truths!

Refuting the Calvinist Argument:

“If Jesus Died for Everyone, Jesus is a Failure.”

The Calvinist argues, “If the atonement was intended to save everyone, Jesus failed. The atonement was intended to save everyone that is actually saved by it. The atonement accomplishes its mission.”

Answer: The atonement was not intended to unconditionally save everyone. Otherwise, you are right, it failed because there are plenty of unsaved people going to hell. In fact, the atonement wasn’t intended to unconditionally save anyone at all, as no man is saved by the atonement without repentance and faith.

The atonement was intended to:

1. Make salvation available to unbelievers.
2. Make salvation actual to believers.

Mission accomplished!

The atonement was intended to be a means by which all could be saved and a means by which all who repent and believe actually would be saved. The atonement successfully accomplishes both of these – it makes salvation available to all men upon certain conditions and actually saves them when those conditions are met.

In light of this, it can be said that Jesus died for those who go to hell without Christ being a failure at all. His death was intended to make their salvation possible while in their sins and unbelief and actual if they met the conditions of repentance and faith.

His death for the damned, in that regard, is not a failure as He accomplished all that He set out to do. It was the sinner who neglected so great a salvation, not Christ who failed to make an atonement for him. It is the sinner who is the failure, not Christ.

1Ti 4:10 – For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, specially of those that believe.

Heb 2:3 – How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation

Heb 10:26-29 – For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

TESTIMONIES

The best fruit our ministry could possibly have is to see souls saved and other laborers raised up. And that is precisely what we are seeing time and time again!

RAISING UP MORE LABORERS!

“I’ve been convicted to go out and witness and win souls by preachers like you. Praise the Lord and your ministry brother.” ~ William

CONVERTED OUT OF ISLAM
Muslim

Please pray for this man! He said he’s a Muslim but our ministry opened his eyes and now he wants to become a Christian, but there would be persecution from his family. This is a public comment he left on my YouTube. He needs your prayers!
