CONFERENCE REVIEWS:

“The conference was very fruitful in that several students/truth seekers connected with me via fb afterwards. Righteous seeds were sewn and I believe with all my heart the Lords word will not return void. His works are being perfected in the Saints and I look forward to learning how to be a better light, a better witness, and more faithful in the area of OA Evangelism, the least supported and most needed area of ministry. Thank you for hosting this event in honor of our risen Saviour! I look forward to serving next year.”

~ Kristi (Wylie, Tx.)

“The conference had brought men and women across the country to hear from both recent to seasoned open air preachers. We were edified in hearing from God’s heart what we as street preachers needed to hear as well as things we didn’t think to hear. But we were not left hearers only, no, we were able to put into practice what we did hear and preach and see the work of God move on college students and strangers alike. Praise God I’m looking forward to next year to see the working of God move again.”

~ Sebastian (Tyler, Tx)

“All I can say is that this conference was excellent! Bible centered teaching, preaching, and exhortation. Daytime/nighttime outreaches were well planned and timed. Fellowship with like minded brethren was greatly edifying. Looking forward to next year!”

~ Zachary (Ashland Ky)

“Wonderful conference, we only stayed for 1 full day, but just that day was worth the drive, the hotel, etc!!! Jesse, thank you for allowing me and my friends to not only join you in preaching, but allowing us to be an influence/speak at such a wonderful conference. Grateful for everyone we got to meet and talk to, looking forward to next year!”

~ Jonathan (College Station, Tx)

“The conference was a great opportunity to meet up with other like-minded brothers and sisters in Christ and to learn how to deal with police, hecklers, lukewarm Christians and more. Kyle gave a great talk on the importance of building disciples to carry on the message and to grow the kingdom. The time of fellowship was just the charge my batteries needed to help me be even bolder when I return home to preach. Thank you to all who put the event together, and to all the great people I got to meet.”

~ Buddy (North Carolina)

” I am new in the street preaching community and this conference to me was great. To be around people who have been open air preaching for many years and being able to learn from them and get to know their heart was both a blessing and edifying. So I would say even if your just getting started this conference was a great way to learn from others without having to go through what they did. From handling police to the lukewarm and learning that evangelism and discipleship should go hand in hand gave a solid foundation to start making Christ known in the open air. And also getting firsthand experience with outreaches and solid biblical teachings. True blessing looking forward to next year.”

~ Caleb (North Carolina)

“It was great to meet new open air preachers who are truly saved and love the Lord Jesus Christ and want to serve Him in the beauty of holiness. It was refreshing to be with brethren of like precious faith. Where no pretense was needed.”

~ Jim (Oklahoma)

“Being with men and women who are the on the front lines of the evangelistic front is alway encouraging. I came to the National Street Preaching Conference To learn from there experience and wisdom and heart for the lost. Received a fresh powerful burden of the Lord over the sins of the world seeing the hate in the huge crowd towards Jesus and his word. Praying that men and women will answer the call of Jesus Christ to Preach the Gospel in America and beyond. Come join the National Street Preaching Movement and take our cities back for God.”

~ Kyle (San Antonio, Tx)

“The National Street Preachers Conference was a great opportunity to be poured into and then have a chance to pour out again. Many conferences you attend are set up for you to sit back and learn but this one is set up to put into practice what it is you have just learned right away. This is a meeting filled with doers and not just hearers. It blessed me to see these Saints join together to reach the lost and to equip and counsel each other in wisdom and love. The guest speakers were excellent and the gospel preachers inspiring. Looking forward to next year when I can bring a group I am raising up from my church so they can experience the blessing I did. To God be the glory!”

~ Roger (Nacogdoches, Tx)

“It was an honor to be part of the first national street preachers conference. The Lord used the men in this conference to reawaken in me a burden for proclamation. As a young preacher the wisdom I can glean from these men is priceless. I’m taking back the things I learned into the church to raise up more preachers and to bring more people to the conference next year! Everyone with a desire for more of God should be at this conference.”

~ José (San Antonio, Tx)

Is Street Preaching Effective?

By Jesse Morrell

People often watch our youtube videos and see the opposition and hostility of sinners and then ask, “Is this really an effective way to reach people?”

The fact is, when sinners get convicted of their sins they either react in anger or in repentance. The fact that sinners get angry and hostile when we preach is actually a good sign. If unconverted sinners are apathetic when you are preaching, you might be doing something wrong.

The Gospel is effective. Asking if street preaching is effective is the wrong question. It depends on what you are street preaching. If you are street preaching the Gospel, it is effective!

I told the church, “Street preaching with the anointing of God is effective.” Praise God we see sinners convicted and come to repentance EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. It’s amazing what God is doing and how much the Church tries to oppose Him in it!

I preached, “You know what isn’t effective? Doing nothing. If you do nothing, nothing will happen. We have to do something!”

The fact is, I have seen more people come to the Lord through street preaching than through any other method I have tried. Every single month I see sinners come to repentance. Every. Single. Month. They convert to Christ out of homosexuality, Islam, lukewarmness, atheism, etc. Street preaching is very effective which is why the devil says it isn’t.

Evangelism Training:

How to Draw a Crowd Open-Air Preaching

By Jesse Morrell

When I was first studying the art of open-air preaching, I’d watch some VHS tapes of a couple different open-air preachers and I saw how they were surrounded by a crowd of people engaging them in questions. That is what I wanted to do in the open-air. Surrounded by a crowd of sinners asking you questions about the Bible!?! It doesn’t get any better than that!

But when I first started going out to the streets to preach, actually drawing a crowd was a very difficult task. When I first got started, drawing a crowd of 10 people for 10 minutes would have been a HUGE accomplishment! I preached nearly every day for two to three years without really drawing much of a crowd. Now, I can draw a crowd of 100-500 that stay and listen for 3-5 hours. It took practice but the strategies are very simple.

Of course, you want to spend time in prayer before you go out and ask the Lord to anoint your Words, for His Spirit to draw in listeners, etc. But there is also the practical side of things. God created us and placed us in a practical world.

First, preach on a sin you know someone will heckle you about. Homosexual, abortion, transgenderism, etc, are all perfect examples.

Second, keep preaching and hammering on the sin until a person stops and begins to heckle you about it. Remember, your target audience is those who disagree with you. You want them to voice their disagreement with you so that you can openly discuss it.

Third, engage with this heckler in dialog and debate until a crowd gathers. It won’t take very long at all. Nothing draws a crowd faster than two guys publicly arguing. Paul used to “dispute” daily in the market place and “reason” about the Scriptures. That is what we want to do.

Once a crowd gathers, you can then address everyone. You can ask the crowd if they have any questions, share your testimony, etc. And if you notice that the crowd starts to dwindle down and people are losing interest, just start back at step one again. You can repeat this process all day long and have a huge crowd the entire day!

The Psychology of Soul Winning

By Jesse Morrell

The Bible says:

“The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.” Proverbs 11:30

There is a real wisdom that goes into soul winning. In fact, there is a real “psychology” to it, as there are various states of mind a sinner must go through on the pathway to conversion to Christ.

Charles Finney, the great American Revivalist, taught that there were four distinct types of sinners: Careless Sinners, Awakened Sinners, Convicted Sinners, and Converted Sinners. Where the person is at in these four stages determines how you should witness and deal with them.

If a sinner is careless, they don’t care about God. They have no interest. So you start by getting them interested. When I am open-air preaching, I might start off by pointing out, “You’re all gonna die!” This get’s them interested in spiritual things.

Or, as Finney said, sometimes it’s the death of a family member or friend that first gets a sinner from a state of carelessness to a state of being awakened.

Once awakened, they are inquisitive about God, Christ, salvation, the Bible, etc. But they still aren’t ready to be converted. They have to go through an experience of deep conviction over their sin. This is when you need to talk to them about the law of God and the sins they have committed. When they see their sin and how awful it really is, when their conscience has done its work and they admit that they are hell-deserving sinners, now they see their need of the salvation that is offered in Christ Jesus.

Many people confuse convicted sinners with converted sinners but this is a fatal mistake. Just because a person feels bad over their sin doesn’t mean that they are a Christian. Preachers sometimes seem to think that the unregenerate are all careless over their sin, so if a person feels convicted this must mean they are regenerate. To the contrary. Conviction simply means that their conscience is working. It doesn’t mean that their hearts have been converted and regenerated. It doesn’t mean that they are submitted to God and obedient to Him.

Once the sinner is in a state of conviction, you must urge him to immediately repent and turn from his sins, offering to him God’s promise of forgiveness and pardon if he will simply repent. A person is not truly converted to Christ until they have forsaken all of their sins.

As you can see, it is important to recognize where the sinner is at in these stages and to deal with them accordingly. Are they careless, awakened, convicted, or converted? Every time you are witnessing or open-air preaching, think about these things and may the Spirit of God lead you with the right words to say at the right time to the right person.

Another Mission Trip to Canada!

I was only home from my first mission trip to Canada for a month before I left for another one. On my first trip we preached in Dunnville, Niagara, and Toronto. This trip we preached in Cornwall, Montreal, and Ottawa. When I first started my street ministry 16 years ago, I had no idea God would open up so many doors for me to preach the Gospel in so many cities.

Cornwall Canada

There is a church in Cornwall Canada called “Gospel Truth Outreach” that is very active in street ministry. They invited me out to do some Evangelism Seminars at their church and then join them on outreaches in various neighboring cities.

I preached four times in the church during my trip, on “How to Convert Sinners,” “Is Street Preaching Effective,” “Street Preacher Secrets,” “Your Sin Hurts God!” These videos are not on my Youtube yet but I am exciting to say that they soon will be.

SERMON: HOW TO CONVERT SINNERS

Montreal Canada

Montreal was a city that I have wanted to street preach in for over ten years. I’ve preached in Ottawa, Toronto, Windsor, Winnipeg, Niagara, and elsewhere, but never Montreal. One time as a teenager I went to Montreal with some friends but didn’t do any street preaching and I’ve regretted it ever since.

The thing about Montreal is, everyone speaks French and I don’t! However, even though they strongly prefer that you street preach in French, they understand and speak English perfectly well. Besides, I think street preaching in English only helped me get more attention.

There was a busy street corner with lots of foot traffic from the subway where we started our outreach. I lifted up my voice and rebuked sin and it didn’t take very long before I got a crowd of young people and street people.

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.11.01 AM

As the day went on, the crowds came and left a few times. At one point I decided to try a new location: an empty bench right next to where we were preaching. I thought maybe the added elevation would help me gather another crowd. I was right. I had only been preaching for a few minutes when a heckler came by and stood up on the bench right next to me. As he and I began to interact and dialog, a crowd in front of us started to gather.

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.11.35 AMScreen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.12.21 AM

All I remember about his message was that it was horrible. His evil heart was showing.

He was advocating for every type of sin you could imagine. Drugs, homosexuality, prostitution, etc.

He was so filthy and blasphemous. He said God didn’t care if we sinned, that God wanted us to sin, that God accepts us in our sins, etc.

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.12.05 AM

This older man walked by and listened for a few minutes at what I was saying and then at what the heckler was saying.

He then decided to rebuke the heckler and tell the crowd that I was right.

If I remember right, he comes from a Muslim background but converted to Jesus Christ.

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.13.08 AM

Eventually the city Police arrived and gave us a hard time for standing on the bench and using the amplification.

We already had a pretty full day at this point but we continued to preach for a little longer, without the bench and without the amplifier.

All in all, it was a wonderful outreach! I was so happy to be hitting the streets of Montreal with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! But I had no idea about the hard time we would soon have in this city on our next outreach there.

Ottawa Canada

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.23.13 AM

I first preached downtown Ottawa in 2005 but it was very cold at night and there was a blizzard. I was happy to return this time during much better weather!

We walked around and scoped out the area to find the best spot to launch our attack against sin and settled on this bus stop area.

It was great to see the pastor of the church start the open-air preaching! I wish all pastors were good examples to their flocks when it comes to evangelism!

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.24.09 AMScreen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.24.21 AM

I preached second and managed to go for only a few minutes before the Police arrived.

There was a lesbian in the crowd who didn’t like our preaching. I suspect she is the one who called the Police.

All the Police asked is that we move just a little bit because we were technically on “private property” owned by the bus transit. No problem.

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.24.43 AM

Just a few feet away was a great street corner to preach on. I made sure I preached underneath the city street sign, so that I couldn’t be accused of preaching on “private property.”

This area had a bus crosswalk. On one side of the street was a shopping mall and on the other were small stores. It got lots of traffic and I was able to engage some of them in dialog.

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.30.32 AMScreen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.31.18 AM

The lesbian who I first noticed in the crowd when we first got started, whom I could tell by the expression on her face was very upset about our preaching, apparently went and made her own sign to protest us.

We had moved around to a few different locations. Apparently she wasn’t able to find us at first but eventually found us.

She held her sign in front of us to block us from preaching. Her sign said, “My love is not wrong.”

We started to minster directly to her about her sin and we could all tell how her demeanor changed. We started to sense some conviction.

We all shared our testimonies. I used to be a drug addict and drug dealer. The pastor used to be a burglar. We both found the Lord when we were locked up. Our testimonies seemed to minister to her.

We told her that we would be praying for her. And at that point she told us her name, so that we could pray for her by name. That was a good sign… unlike her original sign!

SERMON: YOUR SINS HURT GOD!

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 2.48.38 AM36288240_10155603362491765_4088880918163357696_n

I was honored with an opportunity to speak to the whole congregation on Sunday. I spoke on The Emotions of God. The topic was fresh in my mind because I had just published a book on that topic.

Most sinners never think about what their sins do to God. They think about how their sins affect them. Maybe they think about how their sins affect their family and friends and those around them. But they almost never think about how their sins affect God. And God is the one who is most hurt by sin! He’s been hurt by sin from the beginning! He is hurt by sin every single day!

The Bible says that God is grieved over sin. God is broken hearted over sin. God is even provoked to jealousy, wrath and anger over sin. Sin interferes with the happiness God deserves! As Christians, we should feel deep sympathy for God. We should live holy because we love Him and don’t want to displease Him. And we should seek to convert sinners from their sins because we want God to be pleased.

RETURN TO MONTREAL

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.15.31 AM

When we returned to downtown Montreal we found a slightly different street corner to preach on this time. It was nearby where we preached the first time. It also had lots of foot traffic from the subway and the crosswalks.

The acoustics were especially nice at this location. My voice, without any amplifier, was booming off the buildings very nicely for everyone to hear me loud and clear.

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.13.42 AM

One group of men walking by was a bachelor party. The men who was getting married was wearing a wedding dress. He was just goofing around. Nevertheless, I rebuked it as an abomination. As hard as my rebukes were, they were still a friendly bunch towards me. They were obviously excited and happy about the upcoming wedding.

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.14.28 AMScreen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.14.59 AM

I had a very nasty heckler come up and start screaming and yelling at me, bumping into me, trying to bump me off the soap box, etc.

To this day I am still unsure if this was a man who looked like a woman, or a woman who looked like a man. It was a transgender person. That much I do know. And it was not very happy with my preaching!

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.15.56 AM

This man also came up to me and heard only a little bit of what I was preaching and immediately was super intense and wanted to get violent. The Police at this point started to arrive and to listen to the preaching, so this man held back the violence he obviously wanted to engage it. His muscles were all tense and he told me that he wanted to beat me “so bad.” He was upset that I was calling homosexuals to repentance.

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.16.32 AMScreen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.16.55 AM

The Officer who first arrived stayed behind on the sidelines for a few minutes to watch what was going on. Hecklers in the crowd at that point were falsely accusing me of “hate speech,” or for saying that certain people should be put to death – something I never said. They were just trying to get me in trouble with Canadian Hate Speech laws, which I’ve been familiar with for years. I do not advocate for the execution of homosexuals, which is forbidden to advocate for in Canada. I simply warn homosexuals of God’s judgment, like I do all sinners, and call them to repentance, like I do all sinners. I don’t discriminate in my preaching as I call all sinners to repentance equally, offering salvation to all men equally.

Eventually the Police Officer pulled me aside to talk with me. He was particular upset that I was an American and that I came to “his city” to do this. I explained to him that it isn’t just his city that I do this in. I do this all over the world. It’s just who I am and what I do.

Unfortunately, a brother on the team got stirred up during all of this and started preaching extremely loudly while I was trying to talk with the Police Officer on the side. The Officer pointed at him and said to me, “Don’t you think that is unreasonable noise?” I said, “That’s debatable.” (He had no amplification and he was competing with the noise of the cars and trucks). Apparently I gave the wrong answer so he wrote me a ticket for “unreasonable noise.” I should have told the Officer, “I’ll tell him to tone it down” and maybe he wouldn’t have written the ticket. The ticket was around $100 I think. But another brother on the team took my ticket and said he would pay it for me, which was a huge blessing.

All in all, this mission trip to Canada was a huge success! The church was stirred up for the work of evangelism and thousands of people heard the Gospel out in the streets! Canada needs Jesus and I was happy to offer Him to them!

MINISTRY TESTIMONIES

Making a Difference for the Kingdom of God!

People often ask, “Does anyone actually come to the Lord through this type of ministry?” Yes! All the time! I get message after message every single month from people all over the world telling me how they repented of their sins and turned to the Lord because of our street preaching. I share testimony after testimony in each of my newsletters!

Here are just a few more recent testimonies. Please PRAY for these people!

Hello brother Jesse my name is Joshua , I am 23 years old living in California and I wanted to reach out to you for advice pertaining to the bible and the steps on how to be saved. I’ve repented of some sins such as smoking, fornication, and drinking. I really want to escape all sins because I feel guilty inside and I know right from wrong in my conscious. I just want to follow God and live holy for him. I didn’t have a father growing up and from watching your preaching videos on youtube for about a few months now, I was instantly drawn to the word but not showing my works. Slowly I started to understand God’s word from your own preaching and just yesterday, Wenesday September 5th, I have decided to repent of those sins listed above.

Brethren, again I urge you, please pray for these people! God is on the move. Lives are being changed and transformed! But we need to be diligent to preach the Gospel and pray for lost souls!

Mission Trip to College Station, TX

Screen Shot 2018-09-12 at 3.42.48 AM

I was blessed with an opportunity to speak to a small Christian group in College Station, TX.

I lectured twice Saturday afternoon.

The first lecture was “Preach Free Will  to Convict Sinners and Destroy their Excuses.”

And the second was “‘God Alone Saves’ is not Biblical | Evangelism is Synergism.”

Then Saturday night we headed out to the local bar scene to pick a fight with the devil and win some souls!

Saturday Afternoon Session Lectures

The Apostle Paul said that sinners are “without excuse” before God (Romans 1:20).

The favorite excuses of sinners is, “I couldn’t help it. I can’t obey God. His requirements are too hard for me.”

The Bible says the exact opposite.

The Scripture says God does not require that which is too hard (Deut. 30:11).

And it says that our obligation is always proportionate to the ability that we have (Matt. 22:37; 1 Cor. 10:13).

Charles Finney, the great American Revivalist, said that the first duty of a preacher is to destroy the sinner’s excuses.

When we seek to win souls to Christ, we must start by showing them that it is their sin that is unreasonable, not God’s law.

God’s law was perfectly reasonable and yet we choose by our free will to break it anyways.

God sets before us the choice between good and evil (Deut. 11:26-28; Deut. 30:19; Josh. 24:15; Jer. 21:8), so we alone are to blame for our sins.

That is why we desperately need salvation through Jesus Christ – because we broke God’s law when we didn’t have to.

It is when the sinner is left in a position where he sees that he is “without excuse” for his sins that he gives up trying to justify and excuse them and he begins to seek merciful forgiveness and gracious pardon from God through Jesus Christ.

“IT’S NOT YOUR JOB TO CONVICT ANYONE OF THEIR SINS”

Someone made this comment on Facebook:

“The Holy Spirit is the one that convicts us of righteousness not any preacher”

Actually, it’s both.

THE HOLY SPIRIT CONVICTS

Jhn 16:8 – And when he is come, he will reprove [ἐλέγχω – to convict] the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

HOLY SPIRIT FILLED PREACHERS CONVICT

Luk 3:19 – But Herod the tetrarch, being reproved [ἐλέγχω – to convict] by him for Herodias his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done

Eph 5:11 – And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove [ἐλέγχω – to convict] them.

1Ti 5:20 – Them that sin rebuke [ἐλέγχω – to convict] before all, that others also may fear.

2Ti 4:2 – Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove [ἐλέγχω – to convict], rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

Tit 1:9 – Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince [ἐλέγχω – to convict] the gainsayers.

Tit 1:13 – This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke [ἐλέγχω – to convict] them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

Tit 2:15 – These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke [ἐλέγχω – to convict] with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Biblically, it is the Holy Spirits job AND the preachers job to convict sinners of their sins.

And the biblical support for the preachers to do it is technically greater, as there are 7 verses that support preachers convicting sinners and only 1 verse for the Holy Spirit…

Just saying…

“I CAN’T SAVE ANYONE. ONLY GOD CAN SAVE.”

The Calvinist cliché, “I can’t save anyone. Only God can save” is not biblically accurate.

The Bible says, “Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins” (James 5:20); and also “For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.” (1 Cor. 4:15).

And so the Preacher of the Word can and does save souls – with the help of the Holy Spirit and by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In Acts Peter even commanded the crowd to “Save Yourselves…” So not only do preachers save souls, but sinners save themselves! And how did they do it? Well, as Peter said, they must repent and believe. That is how a sinner saves his soul – by turning to Christ. William Booth and the Salvation Army used to fly a banner outside of their meeting house that said, “SAVE YOUR SOULS!”

The salvation of a soul is not a monergistic work of God, where God the Father alone (mono) is active. The Holy Spirit has a role, the Word has a role, the preacher of the Word has a role, and the sinner himself has a role.

Charles Finney said, “Both conversion and regeneration are sometimes in the Bible ascribed to God, sometimes to man, and sometimes to the subject.”

It is this understanding that gives evangelism its urgency and elevates its work to extreme and eternal importance. There are souls right now that might be saved by your labors who also might be damned by your neglect! What we do now affects and determines the future – even the eternal destiny of souls.

In light of the biblical doctrines of synergism and the openness of the future, we can see the vitalness of us fulfilling the Great Commission and feel the heavy weight of responsibility to seek and save those who are lost!

So get out there Christian! Preach the Word and save some souls!

35539423_10155584840591765_7742994348630867968_o

We started the nighttime outreach in the bar and club district using my new speaker system.

I used to use speakers all the time when I first started street preaching 17 years ago.

I always enjoyed using a microphone for the preacher and a microphone for the audience to use to ask questions and engage in dialog.

The first question that was asked was, “If Jesus died for everyone, everyone is already saved, so why are you out evangelizing.”

I explained how the atonement automatically and unconditionally saves nobody.

The sacrifice of Christ makes salvation available to everyone but they must meet the conditions of gracious pardon by repenting of their sins and trusting in Christ.

I urge sinners to repent of their sins and believe the gospel because these are the conditions of receiving forgiveness through the atonement of Christ.

The Bible says in Hebrews 10:26-31 that if you continue in sin after receiving the knowledge of the atonement, you are trampling the blood of Christ underfoot and will receive “sorer punishment” than those who merely sinned against the law.

Evidently, the atonement did not make your punishment impossible. To the contrary, it made forgiveness possible but you must not continue in sin.

35474099_10155584843461765_6441396044197527552_o

I think one of the bars called the Police. When the Police arrived, they were very nice and friendly but said that we needed a permit for the speaker.

I had heard that the clubs and bars were able to play music outside without a permit so long as they kept their volume under a certain decibel level. The Police said that was true but that that was for the clubs.

I didn’t believe that the clubs were subjected to a different set of laws than the rest of the public, so while I put the speaker system away for the night, I did email the City Hall to inquire about their noise ordinance.

Sure enough, I was told, “He has to keep his amplified sound below 63 decibels.”

In the future, I will just keep my decibel level below the requirement and I should be fine. I’ll even buy a decibel reading online to make sure I meet this requirement.

35512696_10155585213916765_3101492529795694592_n

Without the speaker system, we moved closer to the bars and clubs and engaged with many people.

Conviction was in the air and we had some great conversations on the sidelines while we all took turns open air preaching.

Good crowds gathered throughout the night.

WITNESSING TO A CRAIGSLIST SCAMMER

I wanted to buy something on the Texas craigslist and was emailing back and forth with this guy, not suspecting anything at first, until there were a few subtle red flags and then the request for “bank transfer of funds.”

Once I realized it was a scam I emailed him and said, “This is a scam. You need to repent of your sins because judgment day is coming.”

He never responded.

About an hour later, still thinking about it, I wanted to email him again just to hammer the point. I said, “Have you ever thought that you will have to stand before God to answer for all of the sins you’ve ever committed in your life?”

My daughter was playing on my phone and when it rang, she thought it was her mom. But it turned out to be the scammer! It said he was calling from Long Island. When I asked where he was from, I said, “What are you from the Philippines or something? (because when I face booked his name a bunch of Filipinos came up)” He said, “No, I’m from Long Island.” (Probably one of those temporary prepaid phones).

He called me to ask that I stop “texting him.” He had a foreign accent. I said, “It’s actually called email, not texting. But you need to repent of your sins. God is going to judge your life. You’re scamming people. You’re hurting people. You could have a legitimate business.”

He said, “Oh yeah?” He seemed interested in hearing more about how to have a legitimate business. I said, “Yeah. You could have a legitimate business, doing the exact opposite of what you are doing. See you’re hurting people. If you would help people, you could have a business. Business is all about helping people.”

He said, “You’re right. You’re right.” I went on, “Then you’d have peace with God, peace with your conscience, you could sleep well at night. So you need to repent of your sins and get right with God.”

Something happened where I couldn’t hear him anymore so I hung up. I gave my phone back to my daughter and then he started calling back again. But I decided not to answer it. Pray that he does repent.

Hawaii: Paradise on its way to Hell

OUTREACH REPORT

I was blessed with an invitation to preach in Maui Hawaii with some local brethren who’ve been inspired by our ministry.

I half joked and said, “Hawaii is a rough mission field, but somebody has to do it.”

While Hawaii might be a paradise on the outside, it’s very different inside the hearts of the people.

Hawaii is full of drugs, alcohol, crime and every sin imaginable.

There is great need for bold Gospel preach on the Islands.

Hawaii is a paradise on its way to hell.

Planned Parenthood

Our very first outreach on the Island was to the local Planned Parenthood abortion facility.

With our banners and voices lifted high, we rebuked this horrible sin.

I gave various apologetic arguments:

“If the baby is not alive, why do you have to kill him before you remove him?”

“If they found a single living cell on Mars you’d say, ‘Look, there’s life on other planets!’ But you have a multi-cell baby living inside the womb and you say, ‘No life there!'”

Not surprisingly, someone called the Police.

Across the street was a grocery store and we even had women in that parking lot heckling us.

The real problem with abortion isn’t so much that Planned Parenthood supplies it, though that should be illegal, but that there is a huge demand for it in America!

The Police acknowledged our rights to be there and just as a courtesy I preached with my bare voice without the bullhorn, which isn’t a problem for me.

University of Hawaii

After we left Planned Parenthood we made our way to the local university to preach.

I had preached on this campus the previous year.

It does not have very much foot traffic but I’ve been able to draw a crowd every time I have gone there.

The previous year I was assaulted on this campus but I was happy that didn’t repeat itself this year.

The City Police were once again called on us but at this point they knew who we were since we dealt with them outside of Planned Parenthood.

The Police showed up to see what was going on. They made some phone calls. Talked to some administrators. But they never did talk to us.

We just kept on preaching without any hinderance.

We preached on campus two days during this trip, a couple hours each time.

By the later afternoon the crowds would die down but during our interactions, they were pretty lively.

The overall atmosphere of “The Island” is “laid back” and “relaxed,” but when you start pointing out people’s sins and calling them to repentance, they can get pretty wiled up and the demons can start manifesting.

Universities today all across the country, from Alaska to Hawaii, from California to New York, are breeding grounds for every type of wickedness imaginable.

If we are going to win back America for God, we must go out and win the hearts and minds of the young people with the truth.

Muslim Mosque

Islam is spreading across the world.

It has taken a strong root in Europe now with their liberal immigration policies.

But America is not too far behind. Even the small Island of Maui has a Mosque.

This simply provided us with another great location for street preaching!

With our banners and bullhorns, we preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ and called them out of their sins.

The poor city Police were once again called on us. They said, “Ok, so this will be just like what you guys did outside of Planned Parenthood.”

At this point the Police knew who we were, they knew how we operated, and they had no problems with us. Good police.

Boat Preaching

In the Gospels you will see that Jesus often preached on the shoreline.

Jesus even preached from a boat.

As disciples of Christ, we should do likewise!

Our host home has a wonderful boat that we took out for an outreach.

The previous year we did the same thing.

Along the coastline are many beach goers, surfers, etc.

There is even a “nude beach” that we preached to, but from far enough away that we couldn’t see anything. With the help of our bullhorn however, they surely heard us!

I joked, “I know that the people could hear us because they signaled to us with their middle fingers to let us know they heard us loud and clear!”

Corrupted Church

A local church was proudly flying the Rainbow Flag for all to see.

This was a signal that they were corrupt and compromised.

While it is biblical to preach at the shoreline and even from a boat, because Jesus did, it is also biblical to preach outside of the Temple! Jesus did!

In fact, God often sent his prophets not only to “the gates of the city” but also to “the gate of the temple” to rebuke them for their sins and call them out of their corruption.

That is precisely what we did and it sure stirred up some demons.

Voices were screaming. Car horns were honking. Fingers were pointing.

Eventually the Police showed up…. we were getting very familiar with them at this point.

We told them that as Christians, we take this matter very personally. It’s a problem with the church that Christians need to deal with.

We told them how long we planned on being there and once again the Police left us alone.

Downtown Lahaina

The nightlife was a very active scene full of restaurants and bars.

Peopled roamed the streets drunk and on drugs.

As I was preaching one man started heckling me. A team member told me that same heckler kicked him between the legs during his last outreach. Ouch!

Another man stopped his truck in the middle of the street and started heckling me. I rebuked him for his sins and he got out of the truck, which was parked in the middle of the street, and he got in my face.

At that point I smelled the beer on his breath. With the Police nearby I rebuked him for drinking and driving. At that point he quickly got into his truck and left….

The Police came and talked to. They had been watching us for a while. I made sure when they showed up that we were very calm and that our volume was very low. They said so long as there are no altercations, we were totally fine to do what we were doing. They said they just want to keep things peaceful and I said so do we.

Waikiki Downtown

We flew from Maui to Oahu to team up with some other brethren for a day of street preaching.

Honolulu had a Hotel worker Union protest going on, which gave us yet another great place to do some open air preaching.

The Police on this Island were not very happy that we were preaching to the Union workers. We explained to them that our plan was to preach in various locations and once they heard that we were leaving the Union protest to preach on some other street corners, they were happy with that.

We set up on a busy street corner in Honolulu and preached for a bit.

Then we marched the whole downtown area with our banners, preaching on our bullhorn.

Then we set up on the same corner downtown were we started.

Once man started heckling me, saying things like “There is no proof of God.”

I believe he said he was a college professor, which wouldn’t surprise me.

I asked him, “Who wrote the genetic code?” This was a question he couldn’t answer. He stormed off.

Waikiki Concert

Our latest outreach on the Island of Oahu was outside of a big music concert.

Someone told me the name of the artist, who is very popular in Hawaii, but I was totally unfamiliar with the name.

Knowing the name of artist didn’t matter when dealing with lost souls – the problem remains the same. Their sins are separating them from God!

I preached about how the devil tries to distract men from the real issues of life.

Our culture is hooked on TV shows, Movies, Music, etc.

Entertainment can be a constant distraction from dealing with the real matter at hand – we are all going to die and stand before God in judgment.

We had a pretty large team of us outside the concert and so we all took turns preaching.

Pearl Harbor

One highlight of our trip to Oahu was visiting Pearl Harbor.

Behind me inn the picture was a World War II Submarine.

I did film a quick Youtube video while at Pearl Harbor, which I haven’t edited and uploaded yet.

It was about how we all have Battles that we need to fight. The key is to keep fighting.

The Christian History of Hawaii

Downtown Lahaina on the Island of Maui has “The Baldwin Home” which was the house of medical missionaries to the Island.

The missionaries helped save the natives from a real epidemic and they gained the favor of the Royalty.

The king even planned some massive Banyan Trees to commemorate the missionaries.

Those Banyan Trees are now a popular destination downtown but few tourists even realize the history behind it.

I filmed a short film on the Christian History of Hawaii while at this locations. I’m working on getting those videos edited and online still.

Few people realize that Hawaii converted out of their tribal paganism to Christianity a long time ago and that it was Christians who taught the natives medicine, reading, writing, etc.

Christianity has been a very good force in the history of the world. The spread of civilization has been nothing more than the spread of Christianity in the world.

Just Some Humor

A critic left this comment on one of my Street Preaching videos so I gave him a quick response….

I figured, two can play at that game!

OUTREACH REPORT

One of my converts in California flew me out to the Los Angeles area to preach with him again. This has become an annual or sometimes biannual trip. I often say in my videos, “All it takes to bring me out to your area is a planet ticket and a place to sleep and we can do some preaching together in your area.”

Pasadena City College

I was late getting to campus because I think my flights were delayed. As soon as I landed I caught an Uber from the airport to the campus so that I could team up with everyone who was already on campus. By the time I arrived the day was already winding down but it looks like they had a great time out there.

landscape

My friend worked on getting the “free speech permit” a few days before we arrived and had no problems securing it. But the second day we were permitted to speak we found this to be the condition of the “free speech area.” Coincidence, maybe. Maybe not.

We’ve preached on this campus in the years past and it’s possible the administration doesn’t like it. It’s possible they didn’t like how the first day went so they sent out the landscaping crew to do some work on the bushes the second day.

This would not be the first time that the admin have sent out the landscaping crew to hinder us. That has happened in Philly, where landscapers with blowers followed us everywhere we went on campus. And that recently happened at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, where a landscaper kept mowing the same patch of grass next to us over and over again.

Preaching the Gospel on these liberal campuses has really become a battle!

sebseb2

Since the first free speech area was an unusable disaster, I knew of another area on campus that might work.

There is an amphitheater on the other side of the building from where we normally preach. It is a wide open space with some foot traffic, but not as much as the original spot.

After preaching in the center of the amphitheater on some hot button topics, we were able to secure a crowd for a couple hours.

seb3

My friend Sebastian joined us on this campus with his wife. He lives locally in the area. He liked to preach and his wife passes out gospel tracts.

After preaching for a couple hours in the amphitheater we eventually lost our crowd, likely to the heat. It was a particularly hot day. So we moved back to the original courtyard area and preached in the shade. Students were happy to sit around and listen and engage us with questions.

campusjessepasadena

We spent a few days preaching on this campus. We were able to gather a crowd every day and even had a “core group” of regular hecklers who came out every day. That lead me to believe we could try a third free speech area that I’ve seen in the past but never tried. It was a beautiful amphitheater but it was off the beaten path. It was surrounded on all sides which makes it hard for anyone to see you and the surrounding areas don’t get too much foot traffic. But since we spent a few days on campus already, I knew our hecklers would come looking for us because they knew we would be back. We started preaching in this spot and sure enough, the people came!

My friend Zachary also took time off work and flew himself in from Kentucky to join me for the week! He is a young, zealous, fiery, up and coming open air preacher. He’s been faithful in the open-air for a few years now. He handle’s the crowds very well, addressing their questions and points. His demeanor is always very excellent.

pasadena

gayflag

bingo

“Bingo Cards” for open-air preachers became a popular thing a few years ago. Usually the campus Atheist club will pass out things like this when campus preachers show up. It actually does help the students pay more attention to what we are saying. That’s because they want to be the first to say BINGO! They will even say things like, “Hey, talk about atheism for a minute” in the hopes of getting BINGO.

zachamp

zachamp2zachpasadena

An atheist just told me during this trip, “If I don’t believe in God, I can do whatever I want to do.” And that’s what it all comes down to. Sinner’s don’t want God telling them what to do. They want to do their own thing, their own way, walking by their own wisdom. The problem is that man is not qualified to govern his own life. God is more loving than us and smarter than us. Those who are truly wise will submit themselves to the wisdom of God.

Great outreaches and great fellowship! I love it!

Revival Church Services

revivalservice

My host arranged for us to speak on campus every day and then speak at a local church every night. I had never done “a week of revival services” before so I was excited about doing it. One reason I wanted Zachary to join me from Kentucky was so that we could tag team both the campuses and the church services, as that is a lot of preaching in a week for just one man!

Zachary preached on Sin and Hell. I preached on The Atonement and Repentance.

One night I said that many professing Christians live like life is a sin-buffet. A little bit of this. And a little bit of that. But they need a spiritual diet – cutting out all the sin!

I also talked about the atonement of Christ and said things like:

“The atonement alone saves no one without repentance.”

“God had wrath before the atonement for those who violated the law of Moses. And God has wrath after the atonement for those who trample the blood.”

“God will not turn from His wrath until sinners turn from their sins.”

“The atonement is not a license to sin. If sin is so bad that Jesus had to die for it, then sin is so bad that you should stop doing it!”

A lot of people came to the altar for a time of repentance afterwards!

Hollywood Blvd

Preaching on Hollywood Blvd is always a lot of fun.

I found President Trumps star and took a selfie with it.

It’s had to be replaced after vandals destroyed it at one point.

The best part about Hollywood Blvd is that it is an internationally recognized placed with tourists from all over the world.

You can literally reach the nations by street preaching there!

And praise God, we saw multiple street preaching groups out there when we were there!

Adult Store Outreach

adultsign

One evening we went out and had a spontaneous outreach in front of an Adult Book Store.

This was not part of the plans but as we drove by it, the guys really wanted to do it.

We set up right in front of the front door on the city sidewalk with our banner. My friend spoke through the bullhorn. I was amazed at the types of people we saw going in there, especially the groups of women that were going in.

Sure enough the Police showed up. But their only request was that we not use the amplifier. The city ordinance allows for us, my friend said, but I told the Police we didn’t need to use it and could just put it away as a favor. We were close enough to the door that it wasn’t necessary and my voice is in good shape. The Police were easy to talk to and had no problem with us street preaching there without the amplifier.

blackisraelite

One of our hecklers that evening was a “Black Hebrew Israelite” who called me “Edom” and “Esau” for being a white man. According to him, salvation and heaven is a matter of race and natural birth. He was flipping through his Bible and trying to pull out all sorts of verses. It’s amazing how blind some people could be. Pray for his soul. He was cussing and full of hatred and violence. He needs to be born again of the Spirit.

BACK HOME

Meanwhile back home, the wife was busy with the kids making Holiday cookies!

I sure do miss the family when I am away on these trips!

They are always super excited when I come home!

Ministry Testimonies

austria

“I’ve been listening to you for a month now and I wanted to thank you. I’ve been reading my Bible every day now for a month.” ~ Carlos

Carlos also said he’s been with his “babies momma” for 14 years now but they’ve never been married. Now because of me he went out and got an engagement ring he said.

Someone told me:

” So appreciated your study on Acts 13:48. I wrote my masters thesis on a middle/passive, so I was very suspicious when I read the KJV translation of Acts 13:48. You handled it Biblically, contextually, theologically, and linguistically. GOOD JOB!!!”

Praise the Lord!

Here are more testimonies!

“It began nine years ago, for me, as I began to question Calvinism. Over the course of these years I slowly eliminated the tulips from my life. The final nail was your video on free will. Thank you so much.” Stephan

After the week of preaching in California I  got this email:

“I am an Evangelical Christian who is an employee at Pasadena city college. Almost all my colleagues know of my faith. This past week many of them came to me and asked about “the preacher” outside. They had numerous questions for me. Some of them seemed genuinely interested, saying it was “something about the guy”.

Very generous comment:

“This is absolutely the best message on holiness that I have ever heard. Jesse you are an awesome street preacher but you are dynamite in the pulpit!” ~ Gary

And after watching the same sermon, someone said they are now Forsaking Lukewarm Christianity:

“Hey Jesse, I’ve really been challenged to forsake some distractions in my life after watching your video, “What’s Wrong with the Modern Gospel & American Christianity.” God opened my eyes to my lukewarmness. I thank God for your ministry and love for the lost.” Eric

Praise God!  Watch this sermon here:

Pray for Marci. She just commented on my Youtube video:

“Guess what sir. I quit the pot!! Praise God! that was the last thing (almost) keeping me from Jesus. Now I’m working on the cigs. Thank you for convicting me of being lukewarm. I want to be how God wants me. GOD bless you in Jesus precious name.”

Please pray for all these people who are repenting and coming to Jesus!

And pray for all the new street preachers that are being raised up all over the world!
