A brother and sister in Canada heard that their small down called Dunnville was going to have it’s “First Gay Pride Event.” This unashamed public display of depravity deeply concerned them so they thought, “We need to bring in a street preacher, like Jesse Morrell, to preach at this event!”

I was more than eager to go. They bought me a plane ticket, put me up in a nice bed and breakfast (where I found a chess set in the closet to play on my downtime), and even arranged some speaking engagements in the area besides the outreach.

We had one day in which we could either go to downtown Toronto or to Niagara falls for some street preaching. I had been to Toronto twice before but Niagara I had only been to once, back in 2005. I also thought that Niagara falls would be a great place to do some teaching videos, so that is where we went.

I did a teaching video on the topic of, “Should Christians Even Witness to Homosexuals?” I was once apart of an “evangelism ministry” that wanted to create a policy for their network that banned outreaches to gay pride events because “those people are reprobates.” But I have seen through my open air preaching over the years multiple homosexuals repent and come to the Lord. I take the Great Commission, to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature, to include homosexuals at gay pride events. The Great Commission doesn’t discriminate! As a street preacher, I offer my services to everyone!

First we did some street preaching over near the falls but we were unable to gather much attention. The noise from the water itself is rather loud. One woman did stop to listen and I engaged her in dialog, only to find out that she already knew who I was from the internet and came out to hear me preach. She said her family has been following my ministry since the beginning but she wasn’t serving the Lord at the moment. She stayed with the team the whole day, listened to the open air preaching, came to the church engagements where I spoke, and even joined the team for the Gay Pride outreach. She has since been very active on my facebook as well. I believe that during our time of ministry there, she repented and had her relationship with God restored.

We moved from the area where the waterfalls are uphill to the entertainment district, which has various restaurants and amusements. It is a public street and I preached there before in 2005 with a team. A security officer for one of the stores confronted me and told me I needed to leave. He insisted it was private property. I was sure it wasn’t so I asked for the Police instead. When the Police arrived, I made sure that I was simply reading from my Bible in public, to avoid any false accusation that “This guy is out here screaming at people.” The Police first didn’t approach me at all. After observing me for a few minutes they finally approached me and told me that everything was fine, that it’s not a problem for me to do what I was doing. It’s a good thing I didn’t leave when the security officer told me it was private property!

My hosts went all out with marketing and promotion. The whole town knew I was coming. They even secured a speaking opportunity for me at the Anglican church. All the other churches they approached were uninterested. Below you can see some of the marketing signs they set up around town.

These were literally on every light post downtown! Everywhere you went you saw these taped to the poles!

The Gay Pride Event was being organized at a local coffee shop. The owner of the shop I am told is a very liberal doctor who got behind their cause. My host told me about some of the corruption stories behind this doctor. As a corrupt doctor, I can see why he would encourage homosexuality, since it causes so many health problems that need medical treatment. But in their coffee shop, my hosts set up brochures of my speaking engagement at the church right next to the flyers for the Gay Pride event.

The Anglican Church is the American and Canadian branch for the Church of England. It is very traditional and looks like a Catholic or Lutheran church. I was surprised that I was allowed to preach in this church, since I am not anglican nor an ordained anglican priest. But over the years the Lord has opened up doors for me to speak in various denominations: Baptist, Church of God, Assembly of God, Holiness, Community, Mennonite, and now even Anglican!

 photo Dunn7_zpsqauglshj.jpg

I started my sermon by talking about John Wesley – a member of the Church of England who became a street preacher and started the Methodist Church. He’s been a big inspiration for me in my ministry. But in his day, the doors to the Church of England where shut to him. That is why he took to the fields and the streets.

My message was my salvation testimony and then I also shared about my evangelism ministry. One man in attendance came because he heard about this “ex-drug dealer” who was going to be speaking in the Anglican church. He was a tough guy with a rough background, like me before I came to the Lord. He seemed really moved by my testimony and message and asked that I pray with him after the service. He seemed to have a heart to serve God but was facing a lot of temptations. Pray for him.

 photo 18620138_10154558249671765_1003262659076012234_n_zpslwhehu1y.jpg

This is the Anglican priest who let me share my testimony. He is from Lithuania. He said that the Lord actually saved him at a wicked heavy metal concert! (That sounds like my campus preacher friend Jim Gilles who got saved at a Van Halen concert.) After getting saved he said he became a Catholic priest, because the Catholic Church is what he knew in Lithuania, but he felt the Lord leading him to get married so he ended up becoming an Anglican priest instead.

I enjoyed talking with him and getting to know him better. He seemed very enthusiastic about my ministry. However, I was later told that after I preached at the Gay Pride event, they furiously tried to find out who brought me to town to try to do whatever they could to hurt them – in reputation, in finances, etc. Apparently the homosexuals found out that I spoke at the Anglican church so they confronted the priest about it. He said that he was sorry that he had me speak and that he didn’t really know what I was all about when he consented to having me come.

I’ve never understood Churches that don’t want to shake up their town and rock the boat. That is what being a Christian is all about. Look at the lives of Jesus and His apostles. Compromise with the world turns churches into societal poison, instead of a light unto the nations.

 photo Dunn8_zps3kodmlet.jpg

I also spoke to the town “Prayer center.” We had a small turn out with maybe 8 people besides me. That’s OK because 12 Apostles turned the world upside down. I preached on the need for prayer AND evangelism, how one without the other isn’t enough. And I encouraged them to join The Street Preacher Movement. One brother who heard me preach did join us for the Gay Pride outreach, though I’m told his wife tried to persuade him not to. But just like the Anglican church, once the homosexuals heard that I spoke at the Prayer Center, they confronted the leader who likewise disowned us. Apparently even the local bank was going to shut down their bank account until he said that he didn’t want anything to do with us. He even told the Gay Pride event that he wanted to “get behind what they were doing” – this is the leader of the Prayer Center! What a shame!

 photo 18582645_10154556650861765_5060151067413349977_n_zpslrktayjc.jpg

The Gay Pride Movement is coming out of the closet all over the world to proudly proclaim in public to the world that “Gay Is Ok.” If depraved sinners are going to be so bold in their sinning, should not Christians rise up in The Street Preacher Movement to boldly rebuke sin and call sinners to repentance? Yes, we should. “Silence is not an option” when it comes to the Gospel and the Great Commission.

 photo 18673017_10154566922276765_6272364936313379694_o_zpsdej9p3pb.jpg

We showed up at the park with our signs and banners. My banner said, “Turn to Jesus” on one side and “Repent of Your Sins” on the other. It was a very generic banner that could be used at any street preaching event. One sister on the team had a more specific sign for this event, “Say No to Male-Phobia.” Male-phobia is a term I made up to describe lesbians who were abused my men and now have an irrational fear of all men, leading them to turn to lesbianism. Though they still have a natural attraction to masculine figures, which is why they turn to masculine lesbians.

Homosexuals like to claim that Christians like me are “homophobic,” which isn’t true. That is just a slander to try to paint us in a bad light. I have no fear of homosexuals, to the contrary, I fear for them. They are killing each other with deadly diseases. But male-phobia is a real thing. I tell them, “I know a man who you can trust, who can help you get over your male-phobia. His name is Jesus Christ!”

It is amazing how many dialogs you can get into just by holding a gospel banner. I’ve had some people who engage in evangelism tell me that signs and banners just “turn people off” and “push people away,” but I have found the opposite to be true. Signs and banners pull people in! All I had to do was hold my “Turn to Jesus” “Repent of Your Sins” sign at this park, without doing any open air preaching yet, and tons of people came up to talk with me! One was a journalist who was surprised that I came all the way from Texas just for this event. Another was the event MC who kept coming to talk to me when he wasn’t on the stage!

The teenagers at this event made their own signs to protest mine. If you look at the picture above you can see that they actually used hockey sticks for their protest signs! That is how you know you are in Canada!

One sign said, “Love thy neighbor” and another said, “Love wins.” Love is actually what I was engaged in out there. I wasn’t going to stay silent as society goes to hell. I have the gospel that can change and transform homosexuals into new creatures in Christ. Silence would be unloving. Silence would be the hate. As Jesus said, as many as I love I rebuke and chasten.

We were showing love out there but the homosexuals were the hateful ones, as you will see.

For open air preaching I decided to move away from the stage with their speakers towards the back of the event. It wasn’t long after I started open air preaching that a crowd circled around me. I engaged them in a civil discussion about God and sin until a sinner came up behind me and stole my banner.

 photo Dunn2_zpsoz3fioqn.jpg

 photo 18836965_10154577542021765_2769675581008511262_o_zpsvqoqvwse.jpg

This was the man who ripped the banner from me. He then proceed to destroy the sign. All it said was “Turn to Jesus” and “Repent of Your Sins” – nothing super offensive. Yet he stole it and destroyed it.

Throughout the event were harassed, assaulted, stolen from, had a lite cigarette thrown in my face, slandered, etc, all in the name of love and acceptance. They hated us in the name of love – rejected us in the name of diversity and acceptance.

After I got back home from Texas I was told that the devil was busying lying about me there in Canada. One report said “Jesse Morrell went to jail for assaulting a little boy.” Wow! Somehow this slander was going around that I was arrested during the Gay Pride event for beating up a boy! It was also reported that I hit a guy with my sign! What? You know you are doing a good work when the devil feels the need to lie about you. I never even saw a single Police Officer at the Gay Pride outreach.

Praise God these are some encouraging emails that I have gotten from all over the world! China, India, Canada, and France!

“Thank you brother Jesse. I’m from India I have watched your YouTube videos. America is so blessed with the free speech your videos inspire not only American college students but many around the world. I work in IT firm here in India and I’m a conservative Christian. It’s a dark culture here to be a conservative Christian being a software developer and a conservative christian in IT industry in India is too much for me to handle most of the time and being a woman adds up to everything in a country where women are openly disrespected or objectified because sadly Bollywood is the way of life here. Churches here are mostly far from preaching the true gospel. These kinds of powerful videos are reaching us too. Thank you so much. Praise God for your ministry. God bless you and your lovely family.”

How Jesus Changed My Homicidal Mind | Neuroscience | Jesse Morrell

~ Jesse Morrell
I used to fill my mind with the lyrics of rap music. “Kill, Kill, Kill. Murder, Murder, Murder.” Those were actual lines. I memorized countless songs about violence, murder, drive-by’s, etc.
Fighting was a passion of mine, even in elementary school. It was one of the few things I felt really good at, something that made me stand out amongst the crowd. I wasn’t good at traditional sports. Fighting was my sport. I lost a few, I won a lot.
I had been in 24 separate street fights by the age of 16. Once when I was 15, I fought 5 guys all at once, who were all ages 18-21. I whooped them good too. Even had my neck slit in a knife fight but that fight too, with the help of some friends, we won.
I was very proud of my fighting skills and relished retelling the war stories to my friends. I boasted in my violence.
Fighting became routine. Every two weeks I would somehow get into a fist fight. My knuckles were always broken because I never gave them the time to heal in-between fights.
As a freshmen in high school I started getting into fights with some of the seniors. There was a particular group of them that I had a beef with. I threatened the life of one of them in the school, in front of a Police Officer. Attacked one of them in the hallway. Fought one of them after school, a fight I forfeited after taking maybe 25 punches in the nose.
I wanted to kill the whole bunch of them. I had homicidal fantasies of taking them out, one by one. I thought I was smart enough to get away with it too. I wanted everyone to know it was me doing it, but not have anyone be able to prove it. I even inquired with some friends of mine about getting a gun.
My head was filled with thoughts like, “I want him DEAD! I want his family DEAD! I want his house burned to the GROUND!” as the quote goes.
The world I knew was a hostile and violent one. But then new thoughts started to enter my mind. I had been locked up in jail, for a fight I had been in, when I heard a preacher. I wasn’t allowed out of my cell because I beat up an inmate a few days prior, but I could hear him from my cell. He preached about sin, hell, and the new birth. It was then that my eyes were opened to how sinful I had become, how hell deserving I was, and I saw myself condemned in the darkness.
A short time afterwards I began to read the Bible. Never before had I read or heard the sermons of Jesus. They were revolutionary to my mind. When I read Jesus say, “Love your enemies” I was dumbfounded. Never before had I heard anyone talk like that. It was so foreign, so out of this world, that I knew this was the teaching of God.
It was a completely new idea to my mind. It wasn’t just “fight or flight.” There was a third option I never ever thought of. I could love my enemies. This was a new neurological idea, a completely new thought in my brain.
I was born again a short time afterwards, dedicating my life to follow the teachings of Jesus. I repented of all my sins and didn’t want to hurt anyone anymore.
Just like I used to memorize and recite rap lyrics, now I was filling my mind with the Word of God, memorizing and quoting scripture. The Bible was rewiring my brain, literally.
My life was truly changed. I went from being a violent 15 year old, who was going in and out of jail with homicidal fantasies, to being a loving and caring 16 year old, going on mission trips to bring supplies to orphans in Mexico.
I saw those older boys I used to fight with. They tried to hit me with their car. My anger inside started to rise up and I wanted to jump on the car, bash the window, and pull them through it. But I swallowed my pride, calmed my anger, told myself that was the old me, and let it go.
A short time afterwards I saw them outside of a donut store. They all had motorcycles now and had been cruising around before taking a break in this parking lot. They saw me. I walked to my car, opened the trunk, and started to get something out.
They must have thought I was getting out a baseball bat or something because they put their helmets back on. But I walked over to them, handed them some gospel tracts, and told them that Jesus Christ had changed my life. I apologized for “rubbing them the wrong way” when we were in High School (I was a drop out by this time). I told them the gospel had done so much good in my life that I wanted to share it with them.
They were surprised. One of them in particular still had a very bad attitude towards me. But one of them said, “Thank you so much. That’s really big of you.” It clearly was making a big impression upon him. I knew that he came from a muslim background, his parentings immigrated from the middle east.
Ironically, in that same parking lot a few months later, I was visiting some old friends who started saying things to some girls that were hanging out there. The girls rejected their advances, they started cussing at each other, and their boyfriends from the big city were called. My friends ran when the guys arrived but I didn’t. They came at me to attack me but I told them it wasn’t me. The girls said, “He was with them.” He was a big guy, very angry, but I thought I could still take him if I wanted. But I didn’t want to. I didn’t have any of the anger or hatred that used to motivate my fights. I just wanted to share the gospel with them, the gospel that changed my heart and life. He hit me and gave me a black eye or bloody nose (I don’t remember which one) and I let him pick me up and literally put me in a trash can, without any resistance, as humiliating as it was, because I didn’t want to hurt the guy. I told them, “I’m a Christian and I don’t fight anymore.”
As a street preacher, I’ve taken numerous punches and blows from punks that clearly didn’t even know how to fight. I knew if I wanted to I could severely hurt them. Many times I see the clear shot to their Adam’s apple, as they are attacking me. But I don’t want to hurt anyone. I want to help everyone. Because I no longer idolize those low-life gangsters that I used to. I worship Jesus Christ and want to be like Him.
I tell this to show that Jesus Christ is good for the world. He took a man like me, who relished in violence and had homicidal fantasies, and completely transformed me in heart and mind. I can literally say that since being born again, I am truly a new creature in Christ, with a completely different brain than the dark one I had before. He is the light of the world and the only hope for humanity.

Intelligent Design Proven by the Intelligent Information Found in DNA for Genetic Expression | Jesse Morrell

Here is some good Christian apologetics for you.

Each cell of your body contains approximately the equivalent to 120 volumes of books of intelligent information in your DNA for gene expression.

The human body is made up of approximately 37.2 trillion cells.

120 volumes of intelligent information multiplied by 37.2 trillion is 4,464 trillion volumes of intelligent information.

Multiple that by the amount of people currently alive and those who have lived throughout history and the number is more than I care to calculate. Its enormous.

You can equate the genetic code found in our DNA to the HTML code used to design websites, though far more complicated. It takes intelligence to create.

If you found a library of 4,464 trillion volumes of books in the woods (the equivalent to the human body) you wouldn’t think that this massive library came about without any intelligent author. That would be absurd.

Information only comes from an intelligent mind.

The intelligent information found in our human body is indicative of the Intelligent Mind of our Creator.

Enoch Walked with God – Jesse Morrell

“Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” Genesis 5:24

Never has there been more said about a man than this one single sentence. There have been great men of history who have thousands of pages of biography written in volume sets about their unmatched achievements, yet none of them say nearly as much as this simple verse about the man Enoch.

If great men such as Caesar with his mighty empire, Michelangelo with his angelic paintings, Shakespeare with his master-piece plays, Beethoven with his splendid symphonies, failed to walk with God, their lives appear as lives well wasted when compared to the greatness of walking with God.

Glorious lives appear as tragic lives when measured by this true test of greatness. Some of the men that the earth praises for their genius the Heavens frown upon for their foolishness.

If the verse said, “Enoch conquered the entire world” or “Enoch had more riches and more wisdom than any other man,” it would be saying far less and would drastically pale in comparison to the magnificent fact that “Enoch walked with God.”

In all of life there is nothing greater than the Almighty God. Therefore, can there be anything greater that man can do than to walk and live with his God? Men seek after power, privilege, pleasure, and possessions, yet the vanity of all these things, even combined all at once, is manifested when one comes to an understanding of the greatness of God.

Is God Sovereign? No! At least, Not in the Calvinist Sense. The “Heresy of Sovereignty” Exposed by Jesse Morrell

“Everything happens for a reason”

This is a cliche we sometimes hear. I tell them, “That’s true, everything happens for a reason. And sometimes that reason is that you made a stupid free will choice.”

You hear in theological circles, especially from Calvinists, that “God is Sovereign.” They say this phrase so often that a person could almost think it was a scripture – it isn’t.

Is God Sovereign? Not in the Calvinist sense. In Calvinism, the idea of “Sovereignty” is that God planned, orchestrated, and causes absolutely everything that happens. That God prefers sin over holiness in every instance that it occurs, because He could have decreed sin instead of holiness but chose sin instead.

The Heresy of Martin Luther

“God… effects, and moves and impels all things in a necessary, infallible course…”

“Since, therefore, God moves and does all in all, He necessarily moves and does all in Satan and the wicked man…”

“God worketh all things in all men even wickedness in the wicked…”

~ Martin Luther

The Heresy of John Calvin

“The first man fell because the Lord deemed it meet that he should.”

“I freely acknowledge my doctrine to be this: that Adam fell, not only by the permission of God, but by His very secret council and decree…”

“Creatures are so governed by the secret counsel of God, that nothing happens but what he has knowingly and willingly decreed.”

“Whatever things are done wrongly and unjustly by man, these very things are the right and just works of God.”

“God not only foresaw the fall of the first man, and in him the ruin of his posterity; but also at his own pleasurearranged it,”

~ John Calvin

In the Scriptures do we find God causing all events that transpire? Is God the author of sin? No, we do not find the “Sovereign God of Calvinism” in the Bible. To the contrary, many things happen that God did not will. The Bible is clear that sin did not originate in the heart and mind of God.

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” Gen 6:5-6

“They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.” Hos 8:4

“It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night.” 1Sa 15:11

“They have built also the high places of Baal, to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings unto Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind” Jer 19:5

“And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard. Unchecked Copy Box Isa 5:4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?” Isa 5:3

“But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.” Luk 7:30

“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.” Ecc 9:11

“And by chance there came down a certain priest that way: and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.” Luk 10:31

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!” Matt. 23:37

“For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.” 1Co 14:33

“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man” Jas 1:13

“It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.” Jer 36:3

“And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.” Jon 3:10

“And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not.” Rev 2:21

The list of Scriptures can go on and on but these were the ones that were immediately on the top of my head. The Bible is clear that God is NOT Sovereign in the Calvinistic sense. He does not plan or cause everything that happens. He does not get everything that He wants. His will is not always done.

Given all of this, is there any sense in which God is Sovereign? Yes. The Sovereignty of God and the free will of man are perfectly compatible and true, when properly understood.

The Sovereign God of the Universe Sovereignly decided to Sovereignly grant to mankind a free will. And the Sovereign God of the Universe will Sovereignly hold man accountable for how he uses it.

We see both the Sovereignty of God and the freedom of man’s will in this verse:

“But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.” Luk 19:27

Notice it says “would not.” That’s man’s free will. Then it says “reign,” referring to God’s Sovereignty. God is a Sovereign God, reigning over the universe, but many free moral agents choose to rebel against His reign. Man is a rebel against the Sovereignty of God. But in the end, God will hold each moral agent accountable for their free moral choices. It says, “bring hither, and slay them before me.” That’s the Sovereign God holding free moral agents accountable for how they used their free will.

Man was created in the image of God. That means that we are little sovereigns in this world, with dominion to rule over it. God is King of kings, Lord of lords, and Sovereign of sovereigns. Sovereignty does not mean that God causes everything, as a king is sovereign over his kingdom but doesn’t cause everything that happens. A sovereign king over his kingdom still has to deal with rebels against his reign.

A biblical understanding of the Sovereignty of God is not that God is the ultimate cause of everything, but that He is the ultimate authority over everything.

Overall, I think that Calvinists and Theologians make too much of an emphasis on “the Sovereignty of God,” when the word “Sovereignty” isn’t even in the Bible once, and yet they utterly reject the idea of man’s “freewill,” when that word is found in the Bible some seventeen times. Since the Bible does not talk about the “Sovereignty of God” but often talks about the “freewill” of man, I think that preachers of the Bible should do the same.

The Natural Ability of Man: A Study On Free Will & Human Nature by Jesse Morrell is an exhaustive theological volume that defends the Christian doctrine of man’s free will against the false Gnostic/Calvinist doctrine of man’s natural inability.

This volume explains the truth of man’s freedom of choice in light of Church history and other doctrines like total depravity, regeneration, atonement, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, predestination, repentance, faith, the believers security, original sin, etc. One Bible teacher called this book “the most comprehensive exposition on man’s natural ability in print.”

Street Preachers Rebuke Transgenderism on American Universities & Preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ | Jesse Morrell

Jesse Morrell Open Air Outreach Street Preacher photo OAO_zps8kqusixp.jpg

Praise God, our ministry has been so busy with traveling, preaching, editing and uploading YouTube videos, writing an evangelism curriculum and other things, that we’ve gotten a little behind on our newsletters. I’ll be working on getting caught up with these reports.

A little while ago I was blessed to be invited to Kansas by a street preaching church. I was able to speak in their church, teach an evangelism seminar, and also lead open-air outreaches to the local campuses and streets.

On a Saturday afternoon I taught a two hour seminar on open air ministry. I preached on two of the most fundamental issues as it relates to this type of ministry:

First, how to draw a crowd.

Second, how to handle the police.

This is a church that already does street preachings which is great for the first part. If you go out to the streets with a crowd of people already, and you have the congregation form a crowd in front of the preacher, this will help get other people to stop as well – a crowd draws a crowd.

I also taught them how to address “hot button topics” like abortion, homosexuality, etc, which gets hecklers to stop in their tracks and engage you, which in turn draws in the attention of others.

When it comes to dealing with the Police I gave many practical tips like being calm and respectful, knowing your rights, asking specific questions, requesting their superior, etc.

Both of these messages are free on my YouTube channel and you can find the link to them below.

We spent a couple days on this campus. I had been on this campus once before but we came so late in the afternoon that I never got much going, except a small crowd of maybe 10 people. This time around things were different.

There are benches which are great for standing on and a huge staircase which provides plenty of seating for the students. I started off preaching towards the empty staircase because that is where I wanted the crowd to gather and to sit.

I was so happy that the pastor from the church came and joined me on campus! He has a testimony like mine, being saved out of drugs and alcohol and the party life. He boldly proclaimed the Word, calling the students to repentance and faith in Christ! His wife also joined us and prayed on the sidelines and talked to students! More pastors in America need to lead their congregations by example and get out to witness for Christ!

Another brother who lives in the area joined us as well. His name is Paul and he has joined me on various other campuses. It’s always great listening to him preach with his American-Italian accent! He’s also a very friendly and likable guy, which is great for fellowship but also for engaging the students.

The issue of homosexuality and transgenderism was a big topic on this campus. Two of our main hecklers were “transgender.” We certainly didn’t shy away from this issue either. It’s a big cultural issue going on right now in our country, as you are always hearing about it in the news and seeing it on television. It needs to be confronted head on. We have the gospel of Jesus Christ that can set them free!

I think our willingness to address these issues head on, in no uncertain terms, is the major reason why so many students gather around and listen to us for hours.

Wednesday Night Church Service

 photo Screen Shot 2018-01-19 at 2.10.31 PM_zpso3cdntci.png

On Wednesday night I was asked if I was willing to speak to the church. I have a personal policy to NEVER turn down an invitation to speak. I pray for opportunities so it wouldn’t make any sense to turn them down, even when they come with very short notice. I don’t need but 5 minutes to prepare a sermon outline because I already have the truth so deep in my heart and mind.

I put together a sermon on “Truths About Sin that can Change Your Life.” I expounded on the fact that sin is stupid, sin is a choice, sin is avoidable, sin is selfishness, etc. It was a very powerful sermon and you can find it on my Youtube channel. One woman was new and visiting the church and she loved the preaching so much that she brought her husband to the church on Sunday. She said she has never heard such powerful preaching in all of Topeka Kansas!

One evening we went to a nearby “downtown” area for a little bit of street preaching and got a pretty lively reaction. I held a big banner that listed various sins and this captured a lot of attention from passing cars, local businesses, and the young people who roamed the streets.

A group of young people soon were attracted to us, swarmed around us, and engaged us in discussion.

 photo 4_zpsioajvl58.jpg

Our team took turns open-air preaching and also engaged in dialog with those who came around us. One man in particular was very convicted and troubled. He apparently was a person who attended church for a long time but just recently, I believe, left and got involved in homosexuality. He was adamant that God made him that way, that God accepts him as he is, etc. We preached the message of the new birth, that Jesus Christ can set him free and make him a new man.

Kansas State University was a new campus for me but the church had been there before. The pastor said that last time he was here the students became a near riot and he thought they might die! I had less of a reaction from the students during this outreach.

At first when I began preaching the students started playing loud music to drown out the preaching. That’s OK because we brought a small amplifier that we used. This becomes a bargaining chip because I know the administration won’t want us to have an amplifier. So when we are asked to put the amplifier away, we agree if the students will put the music away.

I preached for a couple hours to a small group and eventually a good size crowd but it really wasn’t until the end of the day that a signifiant crowd had gathered. It certainly always helps us when the students make their own signs of protest, as this creates more of a scene and generates more attention. Brother Paul did an excellent job addressing the students, engaging their questions, etc.

On Sunday I was asked to preach a sermon and to “let the fire loose!” So I preached a radical sermon on what it really means to be a Christian – that true Christianity starts with a total surrender and abandonment of yourself to Jesus Christ. I preached that true Christians live habitually holy. The American church needs to hear more than ever that we are called to radical holiness. The title of my sermon on YouTube is “You Might Question Your Salvation After This Sermon.” Be sure to check it out. There is a link below.

Bullet proof preacher? Yes! I just recently received in the mail a bullet proof coat and a bullet proof vest! Some friends and supporters helped me get these. Why would I wear these? Because it is getting crazy out there. There are mass shootings regularly in the news now. Even churches have been targeted. Campuses and universities get shot up. Certainly a controversial preacher in the middle of a campus, with a large crowd of students, would be a prime target. I’ve already been at gun point once on a campus.

I figure, this is just a little extra precaution. Just like Christian police men wear bullet proof vests, or Christian construction workers wear hard hats. I certainly trust in God but I still wear eye protection when I am cutting wood. My main concern is to preach the gospel as God has called me to and still make sure I am safe to come home to my wife and kids.

Keep us in your prayers as we do battle on the front lines!

I am putting together my itinerary for 2018 and have some tentative trips to Kentucky, Philadelphia, Sweden, Australia, Philippines, and others.

All it takes to bring me to your area is a plane ticket and a couch to sleep on. Then I can minister in your church or we can do some outreaches together.

If you’d like to bring me out to your area, just let me know!

This is a brother rocking one of our street preaching t-shirts! He said he likes to wear these shirts everywhere that he goes! That’s pretty cool.

Check out our T-Shirt Store as we have a large section to look through.

I am very pleased to announce the publication of my 5th book, “The Emotions of God: How Man Can Bless or Hurt God!” This is a biblical study on the divine feelings of God. Surprisingly, many theologians throughout history have denied that God has real emotions and feelings. They teach that God cannot have emotions because He is outside of time and changeless. But is this what the Scriptures really say? A biblical view of God is very different from the picture that some theologians try to paint of him.

Check it out in my BOOKSTORE

As you can see, this brother was very excited to get my book in the mail! I posted online that if you read this book, it will challenge your view of God. One brother wrote back and said he’s been reading it and it has been changing his views on many things that he learned in his church! It’s so sad that many represent God as an impersonal emotionless being when that is so far from the God revealed in the scriptures.

Praise God, I read two encouraging emails today. One was from a missionary in Denmark who said he wants to translate my testimony into Danish! Awesome! And another from a young aspiring street preacher who said he’s been reading my book and “wow! I’ve never read anything like it before.” I praise God for the global impact our ministry is having!

I recently got a message that said, “As a homosexual who is trying desperately to seek after Christ and leave behind those desires I thank you.” He’s been watching our Youtube videos.

One brother wrote to me and said, “Since finding your videos on YouTube I have felt myself allowing the Lord to enter my life every day. I thank you for opening my eyes. I now truly understand what it means to once be blind and now see. Thank you Brother Jesse.”

Amen! The best part is, I get emails like that all the time from all over the world!

Here is another email I received a little while ago but just recently opened, “Recently I saw your videos and I’ve decided to convert back to Christianity from Atheism. I have given up all the sinful activities and now read scripture daily.”

Praise God! The Word is being preached, sinners are repenting, and souls are being saved!

Books by Street Preacher Jesse Morrell

FrontCoverAmazon “Cleansing the Temple” was written by a young fiery street preacher. Jesse Morrell was only eighteen years old in 2003, preaching in the streets of New England, when he began to write the contents of this book. It is not your typical Christian book. It is a compilation of very passionate articles calling the church of believers to uncompromising holy service to God. This book is primarily about purity, prayer, and preaching. The hope is that this book will cleanse modern Christianity to be the bride that Christ wants her to be.

“It is my prayer and belief this book will be used by God to purify and perfect His church to do the work of the ministry and raise up laborers for the harvest.  It is packed with scripture, anecdotes, historical nuggets, personal examples and testimonies.  It is not necessarily a devotional book but it will challenge you to seek the Lord.  It is not necessarily a book on doctrine but it is full of sound doctrine and will make you want to read your Bible.  It is not necessarily an open air training manual but will prepare you for open air ministry.” ~ Micah Armstrong,  2016

Does Man Inherit A Sinful Nature by Jesse Morrell is a thorough examination and refutation to one of the oldest theological excuses for sin – a sinful nature. With an abundance of scripture, keen logic, and an appeal to Christian teachers throughout history, this book not only shows that men are not born with a sinful nature but that sin is actually contrary to the nature God gave us.

“The Emotions of God: How Man Can Bless or Hurt Godby Jesse Morrell is an exhaustive biblical study on the Divine Feelings. Does God really have emotions? Or is He impassible? The question is simple enough but it has been much debated by Christians over the centuries. The Bible portrays God as having emotions but are these real descriptions of Him? Can God change in any way or is He absolutely immutable in all things? Is God timeless or does He experience duration? How should we live in regard to our obligations towards God? Can man hurt God or inflict pain upon Him? Can we contribute to His happiness? These are the types of questions that are involved in this debate, which this book gives you biblical answers to. It will challenge your understanding of God and edify your walk with Him. As the Scriptures are expounded upon this topic, you may never view God the same way again.

“How to Refute Atheism & Evolution” by Jesse Morrell  is an excellent Christian apologetic book. Some Christians may be intimidated by the topics of atheism and evolution but with a little bit of study these topics can actually become the easiest to refute! Every Christian can and should learn Christian Apologetics. We are told in the Bible to always be ready to give a defense (apologia) for the hope that is within us.

GUILTY AS CHARGED: The Salvation Testimony of Jesse Morrell – Drug Dealer Street Fighter Turned Street Preacher

How a Drug Dealer Street Fighter became a Street Preacher

The Salvation Testimony of Jesse Morrell

It was another day in court. By now it had all become routine to me. There were shackles around my legs which made it hurt when I walked and a big chain around my waist which my wrists were cuffed to. Only one thought was going through my mind while I was sitting in the small room behind the court with all the other criminals. It was the same thought going through everyone’s mind in that room: Will I be imprisoned or will I be released?

A woman went into the main room right outside the doorway of our holding room and was speaking to the guards. My name was mentioned in the quick conversation so I knew she had come for me. The guard called me out of the small room into the main room where I was greeted by Shannon, my probation officer. She took me into the hallway and explained to me how the court session was going to go.

At the age of fifteen everyone thinks they are invincible and that is exactly how I felt. She could tell by the expressions on my face that I was not taking this very seriously. Every time I had gone to court in the past nothing serious happened. I expected that it would be the same this time. Expressions soon changed as she continued to speak to me. Though I was going to court for violation of probation, since I had gotten into a fight which resulted in my neck being slit by a knife, she told me of new charges that were pending. It was for larceny in the first degree. And she said that since it would be my second felony (the first was when I assaulted an older kid with a glass beer bottle) I would be tried as an adult and would face five to ten years in prison.

As a fifteen year old kid thinking about five to ten years in prison, panic gripped my heart, unbelief entered my mind and tears started to form in my eyes. The guards lead me into the court room where my eyes glanced upon my mother who was nervously waiting for the court session to begin. It is a blessing when someone who lived the way I was living reaches rock bottom. Some never reach the point where enough is enough, so their lives continually get increasing worse. This was the first time I had reached the bottom. Devastation is the only way to describe it. How could I have been so blind to live so recklessly and now face five to ten years in prison? How is my mother going to handle this when she hears the news? How am I going to survive such a long time in a cell and maintain my sanity?

The entire court room knew what my emotions were as I entered. The tears must have given it away or maybe it was the fact that I couldn’t even lift up his head to see the judge because of shame and remorse. Maybe the judge will see my broken spirit and be lenient. But receiving grace was an unrealistic fantasy. They all knew me as a very violent, drug addicted, felon. I knew doom was inevitable.

Prayers from a Cell

After the court hearing they brought me back to the Juvenal Detention Center on Whalley Avenue in New Haven Connecticut where I was placed in a cell.

It was here a few weeks earlier that I had heard a preacher that preached about sin and hell. I was not invited to his meeting in the lobby because I was in a fist fight a few days earlier and was not allowed out of my cell, but he was loud enough for me to hear. He shared his testimony of how he was a criminal locked up in prison and then Jesus Christ changed his life. He asked all the inmates there, “How many of you think you are going to heaven when you die?” I looked out my cell and saw that they all raised their hands. He then said, “That is such ignorance. You think you can live in sin and still go to heaven? Who then will go to hell?” His preaching was straightforward, fiery, bold and sincere. He didn’t even know I was there or that I was listening but under his preaching I came under serious conviction and realized for the first time in my life that I was going to hell for my sins. The Holy Spirit came into my cell and was heavily dealing with me. He opened my eyes and I saw how rotten I was and that I deserved to be the kindling of hell.

I had been roasting in the conviction from that experience for weeks now, still trying to sin but couldn’t do it with ease anymore. I knew I was in trouble with God. And now facing five to ten years in prison I saw how my sins were completely ruining my life and my eternity.

I expected to wait in that cell until my next court date. Prayer was my only resort. I knew that it would have to take the hand and power of God to get me out of this. I prayed that if God gets me out of this devastating situation, I will do everything that I am supposed to do. No longer would drug abusing and drug selling be a part of my life. No longer would I be involved with the people that I was involved with. Fights would not be a part of my life or anything else that my conscience warned me was wrong and displeasing to God. Everything would change if only God would somehow get me out of this.

The Spirit of God continued to work in my life and my eyes were opened to just how filthy and wrong my life was. I saw how horribly wrong I had been! How filthy I was! I saw my heart as extremely vile and polluted with iniquity. The Lord brought me to the point where I said to Him, “Lord, even if I have to spend five to ten years in prison, I am not going to live this way anymore. I can’t do it! I must serve you!” Even if I had to spend years in a prison full of sin, I did not want to live another second in such filth.

Due to a previous court case in which I had violated my probation multiple times by failing five drug tests (all four with marijuana and one with cocaine), I had been put on a waiting list for rehab. It was only a few weeks earlier when they had put me on the waiting list. All they were waiting for was an open bed.

After a little while of being locked up in the Detention Center I was transferred to a type of halfway house for a couple months and then was transferred to a rehab.

I had initially forgotten that I was on the waiting list for a rehab so when I was transferred I was surprised. So before I had my next court appearance I was transferred to a forty five day rehabilitation program.

Reborn in Rehab

While I was in rehab I learned everything I could about staying sober. As a teenager all that I knew was drugs. The word sober itself was from a foreign language. It wasn’t part of my vocabulary because it wasn’t part of my life.

One day in rehab I saw another patient sitting on a couch in the living area reading a big black book. I asked, “Is that a Bible?” She said, “Yes.” I asked, “Can I borrow that sometime? To read it?” She said, “You want to read the Bible?” I was not the type that you would have thought would want anything to do with the Bible. My head was shaved like a skinhead, the scar on my neck was red and bulging, and my knuckles were broken and swollen from the constant fist fights. I remember overhearing other patients in the bathroom talking about who the scariest person in the rehab was. One man said, “Jesse Morrell. Have you seen his knuckles?” Another patient, during a group discussion, said, “We need to talk about Jesse’s demons. He has demons.” So this girl reading the Bible was very surprised that I would ask for it. But I was insistent and sincere. She let me borrow it and it changed my life.

At first I read about the priests sacrificing animals and spilling their blood upon the altar. I thought this was very strange and thought to myself, “Wow! I’ve never seen my priest do that! Do they do that after the Mass when we all leave? This must be a private event because I’ve never seen them sacrifice animals in my church.”

There was a Christian counselor there that would minister to us, though this was not a Christian rehab. I talked to him about this and he explained to me that this was not talking about Catholic Priests but Levitical Priests and that it was the Old Covenant. Now that we have a New Covenant in which Christ shed His blood for us, he explained, we do not sacrifice animals anymore. He encouraged me to read the New Testament and so that is where I continued.

I read Jesus saying that you should love your enemies. That was so contrary to everything I knew in the world that I knew that was not from man but from God.[1] And I read where Jesus said you must be born again. I was taught as a Catholic to stay away from “born-again Christians” but here Jesus preached that you must be born again.

I asked this Christian counselor many questions about the Bible and he was the first person to ever explain to me that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins, that through his sacrifice I could be saved and forgiven. He asked me, “Have you ever said the sinner’s prayer?” I had never heard of such a thing but said, “No, but if anyone needs to say that prayer it is me.” He explained to me what it was, that it was a prayer for forgiveness and the new birth. So I went into my room and prayed alone, crying out to God to forgive me of my sins through Jesus Christ and make me born again. It was a sincere prayer of intense desire for a new life and I was radically changed that day from the inside out! I had a new heart, a new mind and a new life! I had been cleansed and purged and washed clean from the inside out! I was wonderfully and marvelously born again by the Spirit of God.

Other counselors in the rehab noticed the difference. They were not Christians so they were the first people I ever witnessed to. They said, “Jesse, there is something different about you.” I said, “I’ve been born again.” They said, “We can tell. Don’t take this personally, but when you first arrived here at the rehab there was like a very dark and scary presence about you. We saw your writings and they looked very disturbed. But now, it is like your face and your eyes are glowing!” I said, “Yes, I am a new man. Jesus Christ has changed my life!” They said, “You are not the same man that first came in here.”

I continued the program and then my forty five days were up. I was released from rehab on a “promise to appear” in court. My first day out I went to a church service, to start my new life out right. But I knew it wasn’t be too long before I would be in court again and I was worried about the new larceny charge and the possibility of facing five to ten years in prison.

Eventually that day arrived. It was early in the morning when my mother and I went to the court house. The guards and the public defender were standing by the metal detectors. As my mother and I walked into the building we saw the public defender speaking to the guards. They were laughing and smiling. I thought to myself, “This is a very serious day for me and they are laughing and smiling?” It didn’t seem right.

As I started to empty my pockets to go through the metal detectors my public defender said, “You don’t have to do that.” Assuming that he couldn’t have been speaking to me I continued to empty my pockets. Then the defender gently grabbed my arm and said “You don’t have to do that, you can turn around and go home right now.” I was shocked. What did he mean I could turn around and go home? It was only about three months earlier that my probation officer told me that I would be facing 5-10 years for a possible second felony.

That’s when my mother stepped up and said, “What are you talking about?” He said, “I already went and talked to the judge and the prosecutor. They have agreed to drop everything.” I was in disbelief. My mother said, “What about probation?” He said, “No more probation. No more drug tests. No more court dates.” He looked at me and said, “You are a completely free man. Now go and live your life.”

The Lord has answered my prayer and He did much more than that. He saved me from prison in this world and prison in the next. He reached out to me, opened my eyes, convicted my heart, died for my sins, ministered to me the gospel, brought me to repentance, and gave me newness of life. And I have never been the same since.

The change in my life was very drastic and very deep. I joined a local church and the youth group and after studying the Bible at youth group we would all go back to my mother’s house to study the Bible even more. It used to be that I would sit with friends in my house when my mother was away to do drugs and alcohol. Now I was bringing friends home to study the Bible and pray and worship!

One day after youth group I was driving with some friends back to my house for more bible study. My friend Gary was driving and his black car looked suspicious with tinted windows and chrome rims so he was often pulled over. On the way from the church to my house Gary was pulled over.

The Officer asked him, “Where are you going?”
Gary said, “To my friends house for a Bible study.”
The Officer said, “Who is you friend?”
Gary said, “Jesse Morrell.”
The Officer said, “Jesse Morrell is your friend?”
Gary said, “Yes. He’s sitting in the back seat right now.”

The Officer then put his head in the window and looked back at me sitting there with my Bible. He said, “Jesse Morrell!” I said, “Hello” awkwardly. He said, “You don’t know me, but when I was a rookie on the force the first person in town that they briefed me about was you. They said that you were the worse criminal in town. In all my life I have never seen anyone turn their life around like you have. Whatever you are doing, keep it up.” I was able to witness to him and testified, “The Lord has changed my life. I have been born again.”

What About You?

Do you see how I didn’t take my charges seriously until I realized how serious the punishment was? I was continually breaking the law but never received any serious punishment so I didn’t take the law seriously. Maybe you are just like I was except with Gods law. Maybe you’re continually breaking Gods holy law. Maybe you are living in sin and aren’t taking it seriously because nothing to serious has happened yet. God promises that “it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the Judgment” (Heb. 9:27). You may be living in sin now and are not taking Gods law seriously, but Judgment Day is coming. Remember this and think soberly and seriously about it: you too will have your day in court. Once judgment is passed on that great and terrible day there will be no appeals. You can’t have your charges dropped on that day. You can’t have a fancy lawyer for yourself but rather you yourself will give an account to God. Be sure about it, you will give an account “in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel” (Rom. 2:16).

How do you know if you should be worried about giving God an account? You might be thinking to yourself, “Well that’s fine, I will tell God all the good things I’ve ever done.” God says that even your “righteousness is as filthy rags” (Isa. 64:6), until you get a new heart with pure motives. When God looks at your life tell me, what is He going to see? Remember that nothing is hidden from His eyes. Every deed done in darkness will be brought to light. Have you any secret sins that you wouldn’t want God to see?

The 10 Commandments will be there on that day. Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever used God’s name in vain? Have you ever stolen anything? Did you know that Jesus said that if you look at another person to lust then you commit adultery? Have you ever done that? If you have then you’re a lying, blaspheming, stealing, adulterer at heart who is in big trouble when you die and stand before God.

The Bible says, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived” (1 Corinthians 6:9). The Apostle says “do not be deceived” because deception on this point is possible. Many who are living unrighteous think they will go to heaven when they die. But as sure as God is good, they will not.

Get honest with yourself and admit that you have “fallen short of the glory of God.” “The wages of sin is death” God warns us. Well what sin? All sin, no matter if it is big or small in our eyes. Is not all sin rebellion against God who deserves our complete obedience to his Kingship? All sin leads to damnation. It does not matter who you are, if you have ever sinned against God then you deserve to go to hell. The punishment for sinning against the King of kings is eternal death – a never ending execution. In hell you will be an ever dying soul in an ever burning flame!

Just like me, you deserve the wrath of God. It doesn’t matter if you’re a janitor or if you’re a politician. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or if you are poor. You deserve hell for your sins. Even your socially descent good works, done for selfish reasons, are sins – sins for which you deserve hell. But let me say this: I don’t care who you are, if you have sinned against God, you could be pardoned of all of it and restored back to God!

Two thousand years ago Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was born of a virgin and lived a sinless so that He could be the “unspotted Lamb” to “take away the sin of the world.” He provided an atonement to substitute our damnation. He suffered on the cross so that you don’t have to suffer in hell. Every bit of wrath that you’re sinning stored up for yourself, through Christ, can be remitted by God’s grace and mercy. It was prophesied, “He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruise for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Get honest and admit that “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.”

Through Christ God offers you a full pardon for your crimes. If you will turn from your sins and turn to Christ, God will turn away from His wrath and anger that He has against you for your sinning. If you have never turned away and forsaken your sins before then you need to do that right now. Tomorrow is not promised but Judgment Day is, so get right with God today. Jesus said that you need to be “born again” in order to see the Kingdom of God. If you turn away from your rebellion against God and trust in Christ as your Lord and Savior, God will grant you the free gift of everlasting life by His grace and mercy. The greatest gift you could ever receive is eternal life and the greatest gift you could ever reject is the mercy of God. Don’t be foolish with your soul. It is the most valuable thing that you possess – so valuable that Christ paid the price of His own preciously blood to redeem it from eternal damnation.

The best thing that ever happened to me was when my life was the worst and I hit rock bottom, as I then sought the Lord. How long does sin have to ruin your life and bring your soul closer and closer to damnation before you will open your eyes and turn to the Lord?

If Jesus Christ can cleanse me, surely He can cleanse anyone who cries out to Him! If you have sins in your life today, repent and cry out to God for cleansing! Christ gave His life for you, now you ought to give your life to Him.

Guilty as Charged
The guilt of sin had seized my conscience,
My defense was gone, I had no reliance.
But it’s when you’re stripped that the Lord can clothe,
With the blood of Christ, the Messiah foretold.
This covering for sin is offered to you.
The judgment is coming so what will you do?
Flee to Christ and find His protection,
Be transformed by His Spirit, moving on to perfection.
Since the Lord can save me
He can surely save you.
Although many are called
The chosen are few.

[1] I later read that Daniel Webster thought the same thing. He said, “The sermon on the mount cannot be merely a human production. – This belief enters into the very depth of my conscience. – The whole history of man proves it.” The New Dictionary of Thoughts, 1971, P. 241
